Some experiences stay with you long after they’ve ended, and our recent morning volunteering at The Felix Project was definitely one of them.
Together, we spent the morning alongside a small group of volunteers chopping vegetables and packaging dried staple foods, all destined to be turned into meals for communities across London. It was simple, hands-on work, but incredibly meaningful. Knowing that each item we prepared would go directly to someone who needs it gave every task a real sense of purpose.
The Felix Project, is an inspiring London-based charity that rescues surplus food and redistributes it to organisations supporting those facing food insecurity. From homeless shelters and schools to domestic violence services and community kitchens, their reach is remarkable, supporting over 1,200 organisations across the city. Seeing this operation up close really brings home both the scale of the challenge and the impact they’re making every day.
What struck us most was how easy it is to take access to food for granted. For many of us, it’s something we don’t think twice about – yet for so many others, it’s far from guaranteed. Hearing from the team about their work and witnessing the process first-hand was both humbling and motivating.
Working in charity fundraising, we’ve been fortunate to support so many incredible causes over the years. Experiences like this serve as an important reminder of why that work matters. It’s not just about being at the events , it’s about creating real, tangible impact for communities who need it most.
Following our volunteering, we then had the pleasure of supporting a leading awards night in the finance sector with its fundraising, helping to raise an incredible sum of money for The Felix Project. It made the experience even more meaningful, having seen first-hand the impact of their work, knowing exactly where that support would go and the difference it will make to communities across London.
If you’ve ever considered volunteering, we can’t recommend it enough. Even a small amount of time can make a meaningful difference. The Felix Project has multiple sites across London, making it easy to get involved. More importantly, it’s an incredibly rewarding way to give back and be part of something bigger than yourself.
A truly powerful and uplifting experience and one we won’t forget anytime soon 💚
