Impulse Decisions Dublin Rugby Experience 2019

Six Nations Experience – Dublin 2019

The Impulse Decisions 2019 calendar certainly started with a bang. Over 60 of our rugby-loving clients made the short trip across the Irish Sea to Dublin to watch England open their 2019 Six Nations campaign against the reigning champions.

The weekend kicked off with a tour around the Guinness Storehouse, which is located in the heart of the St. James’s Gate Brewery and a short walk from the hotel. In 2015 The Guinness Storehouse® was named Europe’s best tourist attraction. Our guests then had their chance to sample the local beverage straight from source in the 360-degree gravity bar at the top of the factory.

For the duration of their trip, our guests enjoyed accommodation in the 4-star Camden Court Hotel in the centre of Dublin.  The modern hotel offers 251 well-appointed en-suite guest bedrooms, as well as Camden Court Fitness, a fully facilitated leisure centre that includes a gym, 16 metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

After a full Irish breakfast on the Saturday morning, guests made the short walk across to the Aviva Stadium, the home of Irish Rugby. Going into this game, Ireland had not lost a 6 Nations fixture at home since 2013, forming a daunting task for Eddie Jones’ men. 2018 was potentially England’s worst 6 Nations campaign in recent years as they only managed to win two of their five games, leaving them in 5th place at the conclusion of the competition.

However, Owen Farrell and Co. rose to the challenge. After Jonny May crossed the whitewash in 90 seconds, England had their tails up and their defensive effort continuously put the Irish team under pressure. With a 7-point lead at halftime, a further two second half tries from outside centre Henry Slade secured a bonus point victory, rewarding a completely dominant performance.

A great advert for test match rugby that our guests thoroughly enjoyed, undoubtedly making the Guinness taste that much better! (For our English guests anyway)
