How to create the perfect balance of auction items for Fundraising Events

With over 14 years experience in charity fundraising, we know that most silent auctions will usually only appeal to 5% of an event’s audience.

So creating the perfect balance of auction items has a huge impact on the amount raised.

The best way you can increase fundraising via a silent auction at a charity event is to remember everyone at a charity event is different.

Here at Impulse Decisions, as part of our silent auction offering, we specialise in providing a range of memorabilia, bespoke experiences and hospitality packages across the UK and overseas.

Our tailored selection of packages ranges from VIP hospitality at sports events, to luxury escapes at some of the world’s most desirable destinations.

Every year we source a range of official hospitality tickets and upgrade opportunities for clients. Our bespoke luxury experiences provide clients with access to those ‘once in a lifetime’ bucket list’ experiences and we go all out to make this happen.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SILENT AUCTIONS

Each person in the room has a different personality, interests, income and different preferences about how to donate their money.

So, one of the most important elements of fundraising at charity events is to present guests with a variety of options to;

  • Appeal to different interests
  • Attract different generations
  • Increase bidding competition
  • Enhance event experience
  • Support fundraising goals
  • Encourage repeat attendance/bidding at future events

Guy Burrows, Key Account Manager, said:

“I have supported numerous Event Managers with their fundraising through our free silent auction service. Our experience has shown that offering a diverse range of auction items, from luxury, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to a variety of memorabilia not only maximises participation but significantly increases fundraising totals.”

HOW WE RUN SILENT AUCTIONS

We create a tailored 16-page brochure for silent auctions containing around 75 auction items.

These brochures include a mix of experiences and memorabilia.

  • EXPERIENCES including international breaks, UK and abroad sporting events, concerts, dining, UK breaks and Experiences
  • MEMORABILIA such as artwork, basketball, boxing, cricket, cycling, F1, Film/TV, football, golf, music, rugby, tennis, darts, UFC, horse racing, history

Brittany Papple, Event and Auction Manager, said:

“As an event and auction manager, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of offering a diverse range of auction items. From thrilling experiences to cherished memorabilia, variety ensures our silent auctions engage attendees, drive competitive bidding, and ultimately, maximise fundraising efforts for charities”

We display memorabilia items and experience boards at every event we attend to give guests an insight into the items available in the silent auction and each brochure is fully tailored to include the event branding along with a title, description and imagery for each item.

By doing it this way, the guests get a really good sense of what it is they are bidding for in the silent auction which increases confidence and ultimately means more funds raised for charities.
