Meet the Impulse team – Freya!

Name: Freya

Role: Bookings

  • What does your role involve at Impulse Decisions?
My role has changed a bit over the last 18 months. I initially worked as a booking’s administrator, so I used to book peoples experiences for them. As a result of the pandemic, over the last year or so I’ve been doing a lot of moving dates for everyone’s bookings… sometimes 2 or 3 times when the lockdowns extended or repeated. Hopefully we are seeing the end of the moving and we can all finally get back to enjoying trips and experiences.

  • What did you do before you joined the team?
I used to work for a big IT company of around 200+ staff. I worked as a sales support assistant and Bid support during my 3+ years there. Both roles were quite similar, in terms of demand, pace and attention to detail. Although I enjoyed my time there, I much prefer working for a smaller team where it feels like family.

  • What is your favourite part of the job?
Working as a team and delivering a great service as a result. We’re such a close team and we enjoy spending time together, both in and out of working hours, which makes for a strong team. We all try to help and support each other. I also love when people get in touch on their return from an experience to either thank me or more importantly, let me know what a great time they’ve had.

  • If you weren’t doing this role, what else would you like to do?
Travel! I know this is probably a cliché answer. I like to think I am quite lucky in this respect as my job does occasionally allow me to visit difference places, experience exciting new things and sometimes even cross things off my bucket list – such as the Blue Lagoon in Iceland – didn’t manage to catch the aurora borealis so will have to make a return trip at some point. What a shame!

  • Which events are you looking forward to the most in the next 6mths?
I look forward to the larger events with loads of guests the most. For two reasons, firstly it means more event staff and the buzz we all get from working together, bouncing off each other’s energy really makes the event work and gets the best results for the charity. Secondly, it is a great reminder that things are returning to normality after the difficult 18months everyone has faced.

  • Who would you most like to involve in an event?
David Attenborough – yes I know, cliché answer but then everyone would be happy about it and what an amazing event it would be.

  • Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?
Through the lockdowns I have been listening to a lot of podcasts. One being The Kindness Economy – work like a woman, with Mary Portas. I would love to have a drink with her. Such an inspirational and strong woman. |If you don’t know…get to know!
