Meet the Impulse team – Ross
Name: Ross Bousfield
Role: Head of Sport
What does your role involve at Impulse Decisions?
I am involved with the strategic planning for the hospitality department, identifying growth areas and new packages for both auctions and direct-to-consumer sales.
I am also involved with the implementation and execution of Impulse Decisions’ sporting experiences, from contracts, buying and budgets to sales and delivery of events
What did you do before you joined the team?
I have always worked in golf, initially at Golfbreaks for 10 years in a couple of different roles but most recently in the long haul department covering destinations such as the USA, South Africa, Dubai and Mauritius. More recently I worked at National Club Golfer managing the Top 100s Tour, growing from 38 events a year to over 70, becoming the UK’s largest Individual Amateur Golf Tour in the process. During my time I also set up a domestic Golf Tour Operator, NCG Top 100s Holidays, creating bespoke golf packages at the UK’s best golf courses and resorts.
What is your favourite part of the job?
It’s exciting being able to put together packages, events and itineraries that I know I would love to take part in myself and will give our clients incredible lifelong memories.
If you weren’t doing this role, what else would you like to do?
Being a fan of all sports I have always thought I would love to one day own my own sports bar. Think American sports bar, screens everywhere, all sports shown from lower league football through to all the major sporting events
Which events are you looking forward to the most in the next 6mths?
I am looking forward to attending non–golf–related events such as the Monaco Grand Prix. Being at an event that always looks so incredible from the outside will be a particular highlight.
Who would you most like to involve in an event?
From a sporting perspective, it would be great to have a Q&A with Rory McIlroy. I like that he always tries to speak as honestly and openly as he can. In a similar vein it would be fantastic to have Ricky Gervais host one of our events.
Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?
Jeffrey Archer and David Millar. Both have been involved in scandal in their careers and subsequently used it for good. I have read several of Jeffrey Archer’s books and he calls upon past experiences and encounters to create the narrative of his stories which I feel makes them particularly engaging. David Millar was caught doping but has since competed clean and has been an activist against doping in cycling. Having read his book I think he would have so much more to tell about what really went on, and goes on within the Peleton.
