Sports Day: Sunshine, Teamwork And A Standout Finish

Impulse Decisions Sports Day

Last week, we took advantage of the sunshine before the weather turned and held our annual Sports Day – a valuable team-building exercise ahead of a busy period.

Five teams of five arrived in full colour and high spirits, with everyone making a clear effort on outfits. The Oranges were particularly visible with fluorescent touches – headbands, wristbands and the odd high-vis jacket – while Tom was recognised as Best Dressed for a well-coordinated all-red top, socks and trainers combo. For someone who doesn’t usually dress up, it was a solid shift.

Highlights From The Events

We opened with the egg-and-spoon race, where steady hands set the tone. A practice run for the wheelbarrow race brought the day’s only scare when Nathan took a tumble and hurt his shoulder. He stayed on the sidelines – one mobile arm and a calm “It’ll be right” – and watched the rest of the day unfold.

Momentum built through the programme of events. The 100-metre sprints delivered standout moments: Tilly (Blues) won the women’s race with a strong finish, and Guy (Greens) took the men’s title after a decisive burst in the final metres. The penalty shootout showcased real composure under pressure, with Tom L winning the contest for the oranges. Ring toss proved a tougher test for most, though Craig found a rhythm and landed several clean efforts. The balloon race added light-hearted chaos and plenty of laughs.

We closed with tug of war, the day’s most demanding event. With Tom L and James anchoring – the Oranges didn’t just hold the line – they pulled the opposition over it, securing the overall victory. Afterwards, we wrapped up with a quick debrief (and a few sweets), recapping highlights and acknowledging the consistent effort across every team.

Thanks to all involved

A sincere thank you to our Social Team for organising the day for the Impulse Decisions crew – planning the schedule, keeping scores, coordinating teams and ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

Congratulations to the Oranges on taking the crown, to Tom on Best Dressed, and to everyone for taking part. It was a productive, good-spirited afternoon that brought colleagues together and set us up well for the busy weeks ahead.
