Last week members of the Impulse Decisions team competed in the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship hosted by Colin Montgomerie Pro-Am held at the magnificent Trump International Golf Links Scotland. 

Here’s Will Clough from the Impulse Decisions team to share more about this memorable day….. 

 

The Event 

The Staysure PGA Seniors Championship hosted by Colin Montgomerie is a flagship event on the Legends Tour. The professional golf tour is aimed at male golfers aged 50 and over and is run by the PGA European Tour.  

In the lead up to the main event a traditional Pro-Am competition with legends of the game takes place before competition play gets underway.  

 

The Course 

Trump International Golf Links Scotland is renowned as one of the most challenging courses in the world and currently sits at number 34 in the Golf Digest top 100 courses in the world.  

The beauty of the sweeping fairways cut into the sand dunes, set against the backdrop of the North Sea really does make it one of the most impressive spectacles in golf.  

 

So it began…. 

Pulling through the gates and down the driveway at Trump International was incredible.  

Event signage and branding lined the 1-mile-long entrance. As we made our way towards the venue we were greeted with blue skies and the backdrop of the rolling sand dunes along the North Sea. Excitement levels started to build.  

On arrival we headed to the Macleod Pavilion to sign in and receive our welcome packs which consisted of;  

• A branded golf shirt 
• Golf balls 
• Ball marker 
• Whiskey glass  
• High-end skin care products  

We then helped ourselves to the buffet breakfast before heading out to the driving range to get some practice in before the round.  

 

Competition Time!  

On arrival at the first tee we were introduced to our professional playing partner for the day, Andrew Raitt, who turned pro in 1995.  

The first tee nerves were starting to build which heightened as your name was announced over the speakers!  After the pressure of the first tee shot, we settled into our rounds. A real mix of golf was being played… some good, some terrible but it was a great experience, nonetheless.  

24 teams competed on the day and we finished just shy of the prizes in 4th place!!  

After the golf, we were invited to an evening welcome BBQ, where professional players and celebrities participating in the Celebrity Pro-Am the next day were also in attendance. Some of the notable names included; Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie, Gianfranco Zola, Damon Hill, Steve Harmison, Darren Gough, Greg Laidlaw, Scott Quinnell & Anton Du Beke.  

The stand out for me though had to be John Daly, a true legend of the world of golf and someone who I never thought I would have the opportunity to meet.
